Des Moines police are looking for the man they say robbed a cash advance business Friday morning.

It happened just before 9:30 a.m. at the Ace Cash Express at 1901 Carpenter. Police say the store was accepting a cash delivery, when a man grabbed a bag of money from the delivery person and ran off past Evelyn Davis Park.

Because of its proximity to the robbery, King Elementary was on lockdown for a short time but a district spokesperson says it’s not anymore.

Police are looking for a black man in his late 20’s with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark colored Carhart jacket and dark colored pants.

Police say a white Chevy car with a model year between 1995 and 1997 may have been involved in the crime.

No weapon was used in the robbery and the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

If you have any information you’re asked to call Polk County Crime Stoppers at 223-1400.
