A metro food drive is helping feed military families.

“The amount of needs the veterans will have when adjusting to society are staggering. Food is one of the very important items that they need,” says Lisa Whitmarsh Peterson with the Fort Des Moines Museum.

The museum is holding a veterans holiday food drive. It’s going on until December 15th.

Organizers ask volunteers to start a collection box. Then, find creative ways to fill the box at school, home, work, or in your community.

Once you return the box to the museum, volunteers will distribute food to veterans’ families in need.
