Many Iowans are struggling to put food on the table.

The Food Bank of Iowa is hoping to stock their shelves and help feed Iowa families in need, with the help of other generous Iowans.

The Combat Hunger food drive kicked off Thursday morning in downtown Des Moines. The event, which is sponsored by Star 102.5, collected over 200,000 pounds of food last year. This year they’re hoping to top that number to help more Iowans in need.

The Combat Hunger food drive runs until 6:00 p.m. Thursday and again Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 12th and Locust in Des Moines. You can drop off food items or money.

If you can’t make it to the donation site you can still donate at any of the 13 area Dahl’s locations or you can text “ACTNOW” to 41010 to make a $10 donation.
