Remember when the Big 10 seemed content to add Nebraska and no one else? That’s yesterday's news. Population isn't growing in the Midwest, and it’s hurting football recruiting. The Big 10 will add two eastern teams, and expand its footprint. Plus, and most importantly, it will add millions more dollars.

ACC charter member Maryland will leave the conference after 59 years. The Terrapins will pay a fifty million dollar exit fee just to join the Big 10 .Maryland dropped seven sports earlier this year, and needs money. The Big 10 is happy to add the Washington D.C. television market.
