Many people saw an unfamiliar sight in downtown Des Moines Friday morning – a ram.

Around 7:00 a.m. someone reported seeing a ram near Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

We caught up with it at the State Capitol.

According to the Des Moines Register, the sheep was being transported to Cedar Rapids before it escaped from the trailer it was in at a stop light and ran around downtown for about an hour.

It was finally captured by the grounds crew on the Capitol Complex, with the help of the Animal Rescue League, Capitol Troopers and contractors next to the central energy plant.
