More than 25 years ago, Gov. Terry Branstad led the effort to build the new State Historical Building.

“So 25 years later, this Friday December 14th we will celebrate the Department of Cultural Affairs Historical Building on this site with a 25th Anniversary Gala,” said Gov. Branstad.

The governor said the building was originally to be built where the new Supreme Court building now stands.

Instead, it was built at the site of a former burned down deli, to help revitalize the area which has now become the East Village.

The gala takes place at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th.  RSVP’s are required by calling 281-7471.

Tickets range from $75 to $100.
