Police want you to be on the lookout for a man who escaped from Fort Des Moines while on work release.

Police say 33-year-old Corey Dewitt was sentenced to 40 years in prison back in 1997 for attempted murder, terrorism and going armed with intent convictions.

Dewitt was transferred to the Fort Des Moines work release program on November 6th.

He was placed on escape status after an unexcused absence Tuesday.

If you have any information, you’re asked to call the Des Moines Police Department or the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
