CERETTI CASE: Preliminary Hearing Waived

The preliminary hearing for a Des Moines man accused of stabbing another man to death has been waived.

Joseph Ceretti appeared in court Friday for the hearing but a paperwork error meant he didn’t have counsel present, one a lawyer was appointed the hearing was waived.

Ceretti is charged with first degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Eric Naylor.

Someone found Naylor in the street near East 17th and Walnut on November 26. Police say Ceretti stabbed Naylor, but they have not released a motive in the murder.

Ceretti is being held in the Polk County Jail on a bond of $1 million.
