The “Santa for a Senior” program ends Friday and it still needs your help.

The program aims to help cheer up seniors that don’t have family nearby. Organizers say the gifts are usually the only item the senior will receive this season.

Wednesday, Marcelline Anderson got to unwrap her gift in Altoona. She got several nice items — including a new robe.

“I had a joy on it because that’s what I really needed, because that’s what I need to keep my little legs warm while I’m watching TV,” says Anderson.

Organizers say someone went into Dahl’s in Waukee Tuesday and took all the ornaments off the tree to fill.

Once Friday’s deadline comes and goes, it’ll take volunteers about two weeks to distribute the gifts to area seniors.

If you’d like to participate, check with your local Dahl’s store.
