The mother of one of the Evansdale girls, kidnapped and killed earlier this year has been denied an early release request.

Misty Morrissey, mother of Lyric Cook, is living at the Residential Reentry Center in Waterloo under court order stemming from a 2003 meth conviction.

A federal judge denied her request to be released from the facility early to plan her daughter’s funeral service.

The service is scheduled to take place on December 29 in Cedar Falls.

Morrissey will be allowed to attend the service.
