Despite all the warnings, people were out on the roads through the blizzard Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.
As with most Iowa winter storms, cars inevitably ended up in ditches and trapped in snow banks, but there were some Good Samaritans risking their own lives to help others.

Kyle Reynolds was heading home after a long shift when his car slid off the ramp at Interstate 35-80 near 14th street.

Fortunately for Kyle, Jim Lemker was out driving around looking for cars that needed help.

With his four-wheel drive car and a rope he helped Kyle get back on the road. Lemker says he knows how bad the snow can be and he just wanted to help.

Lemker took off after this rescue to help others in trouble.
