Dangerous road conditions claimed a life on interstate 80 Friday morning.

The state patrol says just before 5:30 a.m. 56-year-old Duane Allen was driving over an ice-covered stretch of road east of Council Bluffs.

Allen’s lost control of his pickup truck, entered the median and struck an unoccupied SUV that had gotten stuck there in the storm.

Allen died at the scene.  The patrol says he was not wearing a seat belt.
