A Davenport man is accused of starting a fire that burned down a family’s home on Christmas morning.

Twenty-six-year old Ryan Eckstein is facing charges of felony arson and misdemeanor domestic assault.

Davenport police say Eckstein set the house on fire just before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

A woman and two children were in the home at the time, but were not hurt. Police won’t say if Eckstein was related to anyone in the home.

The home was destroyed in the fire; the family is now being assisted by the Red Cross.

Eckstein remains in the Scott County Jail.
