With more snow expected to fall across Iowa, drivers need to be weary of black ice.

The DOT says black ice made a mess of roads in western Iowa Thursday. A number of single car accidents on a stretch of I-80 in Pottawattamie County and a stretch of I-29 near Sioux City were reported.

Authorities say roads may look clear and dry, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t patches of black ice in places.

More snow and cold temperatures in the forecast means these conditions will become even more dangerous, so the DOT says drivers need to slow down and turn off their cruise control.
