Officials are investigating an incident at an Eastern Iowa corn wet mill that killed one person and injured another.

Emergency crews were called to Archer Daniels Midland in Cedar Rapids Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the two men were going to perform maintenance on a tank in a corn fermenting plant when they walked into an “oxygen-deficient” area.

Fellow workers found the men lying unconscious early Wednesday morning and pulled them to safety.

One man was pronounced dead at a Cedar Rapids Hospital. The other is listed in stable condition.

Names and other details about the accident have not been released, authorities are still investigating.
