RAILYARD EXPANSION: Street Closures Meeting

The Des Moines Plan and Zoning Commission is meeting Thursday night concerning street closures.

Union Pacific Railroad has asked the city of Des Moines to close portions of four east side streets where they intersect with tracks. The streets are Hull Avenue, Scott Avenue, Southeast 34th and Southeast 36th.

The railroad would like expand in the area.

Several residents are against the move saying they closures would isolate the area.

The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
