COMPLAINT HEARD: Students Object To School On Holiday

A group of teenagers made a formal complaint to the Des Moines School Board about a decision to hold class on Martin Luther King Junior day.

The Des Moines NAACP Youth Council delivered a letter to the board at their Tuesday meeting.

Students in Des Moines schools will have class on MLK Jr. Day and President’s Day to make up the two snow days they took during December’s blizzard.

Des Moines School officials say it is likely too late to change the schedule for this year, but they will discuss that possibility at an emergency meeting on Thursday.
