A diverse group of agricultural organizations announced the formation of the Agriculture Workforce Coalition - designed to seek legislation that ensures America’s farms, ranches and other agricultural operations have access to a stable and skilled workforce. The Coalition is putting forward a framework including an earned adjustment in status for current experienced farm workers and a program to ensure producers have continued access to a workforce as current ag employees move to other jobs. American Ag is made possible by more than 1.5-million hired workers every year. American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman says the coalition framework proposal will help American ag achieve a market-based, flexible agricultural worker program that makes sense for everyone. Stallman says it’s important for workers, farmers and consumers that ag has a legal, stable workforce in place.
