INAUGURATION HELP: Iowa National Guard Called To Washington

The National Guard Bureau in Washington D.C. activated about 120 soldiers and airmen from the Iowa National Guard.

The Iowa Guard units will support federal, state and local authorities with the 57th Presidential Inauguration January 21.

Duties of the Iowa Guard will include transportation, attendee management and supporting military personnel.

About 6,000 National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from 25 states and territories were chosen to participate.  National Guard involvement with the Presidential Inauguration has been a tradition since the 1789 inauguration of George Washington.
