WEIKERT REMEMBERED: Scholarship Fund Started

The West Bancorporation Foundation, Inc. and the family of Emily Weikert announced Tuesday the establishment of endowed scholarship in memory of Emily Weikert. 

Emily Weikert of West Des Moines was found murdered outside her apartment building in Denver, Co. on Dec. 27.

Weikert was a 2005 graduate of Valley High School and a 2009 honor graduate of Iowa State University’s College of Business.

The Emily Weikert Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating Valley High Shool senior planning to attend Iowa State University

The initial gift donated to the scholarship was $100,000. Additional contributions from family, friends and West Bank employees and directors have increased the fund to almost $150,000.

Contributions to the scholarship fund can be dropped off at any of West Bank’s eight metro locations or mailed to Jill Hansen, Executive Director, West Bancorporation Foundation, Inc., 1601 22nd Street, West Des Moines, Iowa 50266.  Contributions should be in check form and made payable to The West Bancorporation Foundation.
