A Des Moines woman had to be rescued from her office’s bathroom Tuesday after becoming trapped.

Police say the woman was stuck in the bathroom at the offices of the Iowa Democratic Party at 5661 Fleur Drive for four hours before she was discovered and freed by police.

The woman’s husband called police around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday because his wife hadn’t come home. Her car was in the parking lot of her workplace and he could see lights on within the building but she wasn’t answering his phone.

When police arrived at the building they pounded on the door and heard someone yelling “Help me.” Police kicked out the glass of an outside door in order to enter the building and were able to find the woman trapped behind a bathroom door that was stuck. They kicked the door in to rescue her.

She was not injured.
