Tax season official opened Wednesday.

The IRS originally planned to kick things off on January 22, but the fiscal cliff debate delayed their preparations, so the start date had to be pushed back.

Most people can begin their filing.

Those people claiming the American Opportunity Tax Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit for Education will have to wait a little bit longer.  Both credits require the form 8863 and the IRS says they are still working to update their processing system to accept that form.
