As well-known names and far lesser-known names decide whether they want to run to replace the retiring Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, here’s a name we can’t forget: Lady Gaga. Gaga had been scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Harkin next month at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The event has been scheduled when nearly everyone assumed Harkin would run for re-election in 2014. Last Saturday, Harkin announced he would retire instead when his fifth term ends two years from now.

Harkin already has nearly $3 million in the bank. This Gaga concert cost a minimum 1500 bucks to get in as part of this Harkin fundraiser package, although you could buy pricier seats. The cost gets you a ticket to her concert and a VIP pass.

Since Harkin announced he will retire, the fundraiser is cancelled, right? Not sure. Harkin’s office said today that decision hasn’t been made yet. You will have to wait a bit longer for an answer on this one, little monsters.
