A stalled vehicle caused a big back-up on snow-covered MLK Parkway near Hickman Wednesday morning.

Photojournalist Roger Riley captured video of the backup around 6:30 a.m. It appears a car stalled in the middle of the southbound lanes after attempting to climb the hill. Cars and semis were backed up for several blocks as they tried to get around the car.

Drivers are having problems getting up hills across the metro because of the ice underneath the snow on the roads. Problems were also reported on northbound MLK from Ingersoll Avenue as cars tried to climb the hill leading to the I-235 overpass.

Road crews are working to sand areas where cars are having trouble.

Drivers are being warned to take it slow on the roads and allow plenty of time to reach their destination. Ice underneath the snow is also making it hard for drivers to stop.
