Most students were thrilled to have a snow day Wednesday, you could find many of them on local hills getting some sledding in.

We caught up with kids and parents near the Capitol building, despite some grassy spots, everything was slick enough for some good runs down the hill.

Everyone was enjoying their mid-week break, but they might feel a little differently about the time off when the spring comes.

This was the third snow day of the school year for Des Moines Public School students.

The school board voted not to make up the missed days on MLK Day and Presidents Day so now they will be tacked on to the end of the school year. That will extend the school year to June 4 for kindergarten through eighth grade students and June 5 for high school students.
