Homeless people in Des Moines will appeal their eviction from the place they call home Thursday.

The City of Des Moines sent out eviction notices for people at homeless camps including a spot under the MLK Bridge.

The City said it received a number of complaints. The tents and people were supposed to be gone by Tuesday.

But some people say they’ve set up homes in those locations and are appealing the eviction notice.

They take their complaints to the City at a hearing Thursday.

If they lose the appeal, the City does not plan to call in police to force them to move.
