ELECTION RESULTS: Mickelson New City Council Member

Voters in West Des Moines elected a new representative to serve on the city council.

The unofficial election results show John Mickelson beat Lucas Casey to become the new ward 2 representative.

About 700 voters cast ballots in the special election. Mickelson won 85 percent of the vote.
He will fill the seat vacated by Charles Schneider, who was elected to serve in the Iowa Senate following the passing of Pat Ward.
