Cedar Falls sailor Taylor Morris will be the recipient of a specially adapted “Smart Home” this year.

The Building for America’s Bravest Program selected Morris as one of 12 recipients.

Morris lost portions of all his limbs in an IED attack in Afghanistan last May.

The home will cost about $500,000 to build. It features retractable cook tops, automated lights, and heating and air conditioning that can be controlled by an iPad. It will also have elevators, an intercom system, and automated doors.

There’s a benefit concert on June 28th to raise money for the effort.

Morris is currently recuperating at Walter Reed Hospital.
