The flu is easing its grip across the nation, but still holding strong in Iowa.

The number of states still seeing widespread flu activity dropped from 42 to 30, unfortunately, with 41 positive cases Iowa still ranks as widespread.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus has also decreased. So far this season 832 people have been hospitalized with the flu.

The number of schools with 10 percent or greater absenteeism increased from last week, but the majority of those schools were in eastern Iowa.
