The community gathered Saturday to raise money in honor of an Ankeny boy who lost his three year battle with cancer.

Friends and family got together for a chili fundraiser in memory of five year old Bradley Allen.

Bradley was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January 2010.

He beat the cancer twice but when it came back for a third time, couldn’t win the fight and died in January.

Saturday’s event helped raise money to help the Allen family pay medical bills.

Organizers also sold t-shirts to raise money for children’s cancer research.

Bradley’s life was short, but in his short life, he touched people around the world and helped bring metro families together.

“Through asking for prayers, and everyone following Bradley for three years, Bradley touched a lot of hearts,” Tracey Bolin, the Chili Fundraiser organizer.

The event raised about two thousand dollars for the Allen family.
