After two warning periods, Des Moines’ new snow ordinance will lead to tickets if drivers park where they shouldn’t.

The ordinance means if more than two inches of snow falls there is no parking allowed on city streets, except in five neighborhoods that allow parking on alternating sides of the street.

Signs in the Carpenter, Drake, Drake Park, River Bend and Sherman Hill neighborhoods tell you which side it is okay to park on.

If you violate the ordinance today, it will cost you $35.
