Some of the problems from Thursday’s snow storm will happen because of the timing and that has many rethinking their schedule.

The snow is going to hit when schools would normally get out and people would get off work.

We talked to a few people rushing around the Skywalk in downtown Des Moines Thursday morning about the evening commute and got mixed reactions on whether they’ll leave early.

“I live in West Des Moines, so I’m not too worried about the commute back, I don’t live out of town. So if it comes, it comes, I can’t do anything about it,” says Jason Brown.

“I may leave early once I see how heavy the snow begins to fall this afternoon…I may have to adjust my schedule just a little,” says Denise Parker.

Parker says she wants to leave early because she doesn’t want to fight the traffic.

She has kids in high school, so got the text message Thursday morning that they’d get out early.

Des Moines is dismissing 90 minutes early. Many other schools are also letting out early.

Snow ordinances will also go into effect this evening.
