Two men are in the Polk County Jail after leading police on a high-speed chase overnight.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday police attempted to pull over a car driven by 48-year-old William Taylor at SE 1st and Indianola.

Taylor didn’t stop, and led police on a chase around the city’s southeast side.

Speeds reached 80 to 100 miles per hour.

Police eventually put out stop sticks at 14th and Maury.  The sticks flattened two tires and slowed the vehicle.

Police pitted the car on 22nd Street near Hartford.

Taylor was arrested and charged with eluding, driving suspended and failure to obey a traffic control device.

His passenger, 39-year-old Antwan Mims, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  He also has a warrant for his arrest out of Colorado for aggravated larceny of a motor vehicle.

Police say Mims will be taken back to Colorado by Colorado police.
