MORE SNOW: Slick Roads Snarl Traffic

Heavy bursts of snow Tuesday morning have caused road conditions across central Iowa to be slick.

The Iowa Department of Transportation says many roads are partially or fully snow covered. Emergency crews have been responding to accidents all over the area as drivers have difficulty on the slippery roads.

The morning commute was a trial in patience for many as traffic inched its way along on the interstates and major roads in the Des Moines metro.

Many schools in southern Iowa are closed today.  School districts farther north are still open but may change their plans as the snow amounts rise.  Watch for the latest school closing information as it's reported to us here.
