The Department of Defense came to an agreement with the Council of Governors Wednesday. The finalized agreement says the DOD will better include state governors in future budget processes.

Governor Branstad says it will help the state avoid spending changes that might impact the safety and security of citizens.

The agreement comes after a decision by the DOD to cut the 132nd Fighter Wing in Des Moines. Most workers are switching their focus to drone missions, intelligence and cyber security.
