A local cop who has battled crime and cancer needs help with his latest fight.

"And that's what's been hard," Ankeny police officer Craig Phinney says, his voice cracking with emotion,  "But when families call the police, and we're not able to help, what has the cop just done to them?"
Phinney started ‘Cops Against Cancer’ after he was diagnosed with colon cancer, to help others battling the disease cover day to day expenses.  After two years, the need has exceeded the donations…and Cops Against Cancer is broke.  "It's hard for a cop.   Because when people call us we're here to help people.  And we're not able to do that right now." Phinney says.

If you want to help Phinney, he is accepting donations through the Cops Against Cancer website.
