A new event this weekend in the metro will show off some old stuff. TV shows like West End Salvage and American Pickers are causing more interest in what’s called upcycling.

It’s when you take old things that might be junk to some people, and turn it into useful items.

A group of ten stores have banded together for an event this Saturday called Vintage in the City.

Tricia Hall owns Vintage No. 35 in Beaverdale and says upcycling brings something special to a person’s home, “So we’re seeing  a lot more people going out there and finding those unique treasures and it’s just fun. I think there’s not an emotional attachment to those items like antiques would be.”

It’s a shop hop event with all stores open in the metro from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. complete with refreshments and giveaways at each store.
