BUDGET CUTS: Armed Services Suspend Tutition Assistance

A lack of compromise on the sequestration budget cuts is impacting U.S. soldiers.

The Army, Air Force and Marines announced they are suspending their tuition assistance programs because the lack of budge.  This also affects the Iowa Army and Air National Guard Soldiers and Airmen.

Any member currently enrolled in courses approved for assistance will receive benefits, but no new requests for assistance will be taken.

The state of Iowa will continue to provide National Guard members with education benefits through the previously established state funded NGEAP and at the National Guard Education Center.
