Some central Iowa school districts are reconsidering their bus services. Waukee and Urbandale districts both voted this week to switch bus service from First Student to Durham.

Director of Business Development at Durham says this should not impact too many jobs. Drivers will likely keep their jobs if they choose to re-apply with his company.

The districts choose the different company based upon criteria that would better suit students’ needs. They say safety also played a big role.

“As superintendent my day starts with wondering and hoping that every student gets to school safely and at the end of the day they get home safely.” Urbandale Superintendent Doug Stilwell said. “Probably the first criteria we looked at of the seven was their safety program and their history with safety.”

The company already handles transportation for Ankeny, Saydel and Ames schools.
