Firefighters in the metro will be heating things up Thursday.

It’s the second annual Firehouse Chili Cook-Off at the capitol.

Thirty-five teams will be serving up their best chili in order to claim the coveted W. Stuart Crine Award for the best public safety chili in Iowa.

The cook-off is part of Firefighter Day on the hill.

Also for the day, a piece of World Trade Center steel will be on display in the center of the rotunda. Honor guards from the fire service and Iowa State Patrol will watch over the memorial piece.
