Des Moines police are releasing more information about a deadly hit-and-run that happened last weekend.

Police say 58-year-old Clayton Payne was crossing the street at 6th and College early Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Payne died from his injures the following day.

Witnesses statements and video from area businesses have allowed police to come up with a description of the vehicle and driver involved in the hit-and-run. Police are looking for a white mid-90s to early 2000s Jeep Cherokee. The driver is described as a white female with brown hair and a round face. She is believed to be in her late 20s to mid 30s.

Police have released a photo, taken from a nearby business’ surveillance video, of the vehicle it believes was involved.

Witnesses also told police it appeared the Jeep wasn’t speeding and had a green light at the time of the accident.
