With the NCAA Wrestling Championships underway in Des Moines, even Iowa lawmakers shifted their focus to wrestling Thursday.

Both the House and Senate passed resolutions opposing the decision of the International Olympic Committee to end wrestling as an Olympic sport.

The resolutions say Iowa has a rich heritage of wrestling, producing 23 Olympic medalists. The resolutions ask the committee to reconsider its decision.

Legendary wrestler and former Iowa coach Dan Gable was on hand for the votes.

The Iowa House also passed a resolution declaring October 25th, 2013 as Dan Gable Day in Iowa.
