This week is Severe Weather Awareness week for Iowa.  With severe weather season quickly approaching, it is important to remember to keep you and your family weather aware.

There are several ways that Channel 13 works to keep you safe in severe weather.  The first is through our partnership with Fareway to offer NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio (NWR).  It’s always important to tune into CH 13.1 and CH 13.2 Iowa’s Weather Channel for updates on dangerous weather conditions.

WHO also offers the 13 Warn Me application for Apple and Android.  This app offers current radar and satellite pictures as well as live streaming of Iowa’s Weather Channel and severe weather coverage.  All of our Channel 13 meteorologists use Twitter and Facebook to connect with the public and offer forecast and severe weather updates.

Remember, the most important thing during severe weather season is to keep updated with forecasts and know when severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are possible.
