A Berwick boy who survived a nearly fatal gunshot wound is finally going home.

Twelve-year-old Michael Wells came to On With Life in Ankeny last October after he was shot in the head at a friend's house.

At first, Wells couldn't even sit up but now he's able to walk on his own.

His miraculous recovery took months of intensive therapy.

Wells says he's excited to go home with his family and get on with his life.

“It feels incredible because other people… they go through what I did and they're not able to walk,” says Wells.

His therapy will continue, but instead of three times a day his sessions will be three times a week.
