Polk County Sheriff’s deputies made two arrests Tuesday night following a short chase.

A deputy tried to stop a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Mark Jackson at Northeast 14th Street and Broadway around 8:00 p.m. Jackson refused to stop and headed southbound on NE 14th. He tried evading deputies by leaving the roadway in the 4200 block of NE 8th Street, driving through a grass lot behind a church, and finally bailing from the car on NE 7th Street.

Jackson and a passenger, 43-year-old Jody Dorsey, tried to run from deputies but were caught and taken into custody.

Jackson faces charges of eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference causing injury, and a work release violation. He is being held in the Polk County Jail.

Dorsey was charged with interference with official acts and has bonded out of jail.
