Hope Ministries says it’s seeing a dramatic increase in the number of people in need of a meal this Easter and they’re asking for help to make sure everyone gets a good lunch.

Leaders say there has been a 40-percent increase in requests for in-home meal deliveries since last year.

Every year, Hope Ministries serves and delivers a special meal to low income or home-bound people.

The deadline to request a meal has passed.

With the sharp increase, Hope Ministries is asking for donations of food. The most needed items are brownies and dinner rolls. Donations are being accepted Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1310 6th Avenue in Des Moines.
