Iowa State won’t be letting Fred Hoiberg out of their sight anytime soon.

Athletics Director Jamie Pollard announced a new 10 year, $20 million deal for the Mayor Thursday night. Pollard said, “Nobody is better suited to be our head men`s basketball coach and we wanted to show he and his family, along with all Cyclone fans, that we are committed to keeping him in Ames for the long term.”

The deal keeps Hoiberg under contract at his alma mater through 2023.

After the announcement Hoiberg said, “Ames is my home and Hilton Coliseum has given me countless memories as both a player and coach. I look forward to continue leading a program that Cyclone fans can be proud of.”

The 40-year-old has led Iowa State to two NCAA Tournaments, with two tourney wins.

He was the 2012 big 12 Co-Coach of the year.
