CAR PINNED: Woman Declared Brain Dead

A Johnston woman has been declared brain dead after being in a coma since February.

Police say 30-year-old Tara Leitzinger was critically injured after she collided with a semi-truck on Interstate 80-35 near the Douglas Avenue exit. When authorities arrived they found the front end of Leitzinger’s vehicle pinned under the semi.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.

Police say Leitzinger is an organ donor.
