Nevada police caught a suspected drunk driver over the weekend.  Twenty-nine-year-old Zachary Waters was arrested on foot after crashing his car into a house.  It happened early Saturday morning in the 1300 block of 10th street.

Around 1 a.m., a speeding and swerving car caught the eye of a police officer.

“As soon as they light them up with the lights, the car takes off.  The car goes in an alley, down into a house through a yard,” says Nevada Public Safety Director Jeff Theulen.

Police let Waters get away, but they kept looking for him and he showed up soon enough.

“Just a big crash and we couldn't decide what it was,” says Marla Eller.

Eller and her husband looked outside, but couldn’t see anything.  They didn`t think to look inside the house across the street.  Waters had crashed into her neighbor's kitchen.

“We didn't know if there was anyone else in the vehicle with him,  we didn't know at the time that the people that live there were not home either,” says Eller,  “It kind of shook me up.”

Waters walked away with minor injuries.  Police searched the area and found him a few blocks away near his house.

Theulen says he failed a preliminary breath test and was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.

“You try to make a house into a drive thru and somebody is going to get hurt,” he says.

Waters was booked into the Story County Jail.  Police say he could face more charges.
