OPEN JOBS: School District Holding Career Fair

Des Moines Public Schools has announced it is holding a career fair later this month to help fill more than 300 open positions.

The fair is scheduled for April 20th at East High School from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

The district says it is looking to hire 200 or more teachers for next school year and says its benefits are competitive. The opportunity to earn a free Master’s Degree is offered to new teachers as well as a starting salary as much as $40,532 under the district’s alternative contract.

“This is a great opportunity for people to seek a career with Iowa’s leader in K-12 educational innovation, and to live in one of America’s top-ranked communities for families and careers,” says Superintendent Tom Ahart.

Interviews will be conducted on site and prospective teachers are asked to bring their resume, Iowa teaching certification, and college transcript. Applicants for other positions should bring their resume and college or high school diploma.
